Yoshida

Hello! It's Cherry, and I have another sushi restaurant to tell you guys about~

So, barely five minutes away from where I live is a sushi restaurant called Yoshida. Whenever I'm in the mood for sushi, but don't feel like driving for more than ten minutes, I just head over and grab a quick bite.

I'm a huge fan of all types of sashimi! I first ordered a plate of yellowtail sashimi. Usually, I try to stick with the sashimi instead of the sushi, as I fill up super quickly if I eat the rice. The yellowtail tasted absolutely delicious, despite it being cut a bit thick.

Next is the scallop carpaccio :) My parents ordered this and I was lucky enough to snag one piece to try! There are small slices of bell pepper on top of the scallop, and the sauce is just a combination of soy sauce and a bit of oil (not sure what kind). Without the sauce, I can imagine it would taste very plain (especially because you don't eat this dish with wasabi). With the sauce, it had a slightly salty flavor. The scallop itself was very soft and easy to chew. For those of you who haven't tried raw scallop, I suggest trying out a dish like this one.

Above is my all time favorite: sweet shrimp! Eaten raw, it's usually eaten like normal types of sashimi. It has a slightly chewy, interesting texture, and like its name suggests, is a tad bit sweet. When you order the sweet shrimp, you'll have the option of having fried shrimp head, or having the shrimp head put in a bowl of miso soup. I usually choose the soup, and this restaurant's miso soup is neither too salty nor too bland.

Last but not least is the spanish mackerel. This might just be my second favorite "sashimi." I used the quotes because it is lightly seared on the surface (as you can see). The spanish mackerel does not need to be eaten with wasabi, and there's a light ponzu sauce over it with chives and little slivers of garlic. Again, I love the unique texture of this dish and the fact that its flavor is quite different from other fish. However, this is one of those dishes where you either love it or you don't. Give it a try, regardless! You never know :)

I would have to say that the downside, though, is the wasabi. It's definitely not the freshest or best quality, and just kind of sits in lumps in your soy sauce. That doesn't make for a pleasant sauce.
Also, this was my first time going there for lunch, and the service seemed a bit lacking. Maybe it was because there were very few customers at the hour, but the waiters and waitresses lagged quite a bit, lazing around with the passing hours. They seemed a bit impatient for some reason, and expressed irritation whenever my parents asked for them to repeat something they'd mumbled.
Usually, the service is terrific whenever I go to Yoshida for dinner, but lunch hours might just be a completely different story.

That's it for my sushi post (is this my first one?)! Go and check out Yoshida for a nice sushi dinner~ Thank you guys for reading, and I'll see you all again soon!

Royce' Chocolate

It's Cherry, and I'm back again with another post this week! Hoping to make up for lost time, so here's a lovely post about a chocolate shop I was introduced to about a year ago in NYC called Royce' Chocolate!
Founded in Japan, this chocolate store is infamous for their world class chocolates and their best selling Nama chocolates. The only locations are in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Taiwan, and U.S.A. (only in New York)! They do not ship, which makes their chocolates even harder to obtain, but once you buy a box, you'll be begging for more!
My first time visiting was last year in the summer when I visited Columbia University. My aunt told my mother and me about it (specifically the maccha Nama chocolates), so we just had to visit. We bought two boxes of Nama chocolates (maccha and champagne), maccha chocolate covered almonds, and a box of chips covered with white chocolate (way more delicious than it sounds). We were then given a free box of maccha chocolates as a promotional gift!
Ever since then, I'd been craving for their out of this world sweets, and got a chance to buy more when I visited NYC to see some colleges this trip! I hit the chocolate store, bought two boxes of maccha chocolate, a box of dark chocolate covered chips, and got a free box of maccha chocolates (which I plan to give to my aunt who originally recommended this store).

Here are some pictures:

Above are the maccha (spelled this way on their website and in the store) Nama chocolates. If you love matcha desserts and sweets as much as I do, then you'll absolutely fall in love with these chocolates! In general, the Nama chocolates just melt in your mouth and have a taste that can't be replicated anywhere else! If you never thought you'd fall in love with chocolate, then you will once you give these a try.

These are the chocolate covered chips. I got the slightly bitter ones to try out (as I'm a fan of dark chocolate). The balance between salty and sweet, crunchy and soft is perfect and is a great, rare snack to have every once in a while.

The shop itself is very small, but needs not be any bigger! It perfectly holds their variety of chocolate confections which range from the normal chocolate bars to biscuits covered in rich chocolate and filled with yummy jelly. Whenever you get a chance to visit one of their shops, definitely pick up at least one box of their Nama chocolates, or a chocolate bar.

Here is the link to their website in case you wanted to check out some of their products:

Thank you guys so much for reading this post! Hope you discovered something new and something you'd be willing to check out. I'll see you all next time!

Serendipity 3

Hey guys! It's been two weeks since my last post (not including the music review)! I am so sorry for the lack of posts lately. Two weeks ago, I was bombarded with tons of homework, massive papers, tests, etc. Then this past week, I was out of town (on an east coast college tour), and had no access to a laptop, so I couldn't post! But, this week, I'll be shooting out a number of different posts (many of which will be about food). Today is no different as I'll be posting about a little restaurant/cafe called Serendipity 3!

On my east coast trip, I was introduced to this charming little place first in New York, then in D.C. First off, I loved the food! It was absolutely spectacular, and I'll be elaborating on the quality later. However, there was a significant difference in the service I got! And that's something I'll be covering as well, comparing and contrasting the two different locations.

New York City

Above is a picture of the cover of the cute menu! There's a description about the store (though I didn't read it too far into detail as I was in a rush), along with some charming pictures to illustrate it. The font definitely suits the theme of the restaurant, very whimsical and curly. It has kind of an Alice in Wonderland feel, silly and fun!

The decor around the entire cafe (the NYC one was two floors) was adorable! There were dessert sculptures, playful chandeliers (the above is just one example), a white winding staircase, and odd pictures and designs decorating the walls, etc. I believe there was also a little shop at the entrance of the store where they sold interesting trinkets and such.

I had already eaten dinner earlier with my friends, so we just decided to hit the famous desserts! Right above is the Forbidden Broadway Sundae. It basically consists of vanilla ice cream, brownies, chocolate fudge, and that huge mountain of whipped cream (which I subtly and definitely not very elegantly plopped off to the side). When you come to this restaurant, you will quickly discover how huge the servings are! I shared this with one friend and just barely ate half of the dish! Bring two more people with you and just order one dessert, because it's more than enough.
Despite the size of the dish, I loved it! I'm a fan of chocolate and this curbed my craving for chocolate that I'd had throughout my trip. The warm brownie was complimented by the cold ice cream and made for an absolutely brilliant dessert! But, if you don't like chocolate that much, I wouldn't suggest getting this, as it is definitely way more chocolate than even a chocolate lover could consume in one sitting.

Next is the three scoop ice cream! My other friend, who isn't much of a chocolate fan, ordered a classic sundae with two scoops of vanilla and one of strawberry, with caramel drizzled (more like poured) over the ice cream. I only tried a scoop of the vanilla (which tasted similar to the one in my own dessert), but from what my friend said, it was the best strawberry ice cream she'd ever had! There was a huge mountain of whipped cream as well, but that fell off just as the waiter brought it to us... just goes to show how whipped cream might be just a tad bit bad for you :P Regardless, it looked delicious, my friend said that was an understatement, and therefore, I conclude that this restaurant can make even the most simple sundae taste marvelous!

Last, but oh dear it cannot even be considered the least, is the Frrrozen Hot Chocolate (yes, there are that many "r"s)! Serendipity 3 is infamous for their amazing iced hot chocolate, and so we just had to order one! It's basically exactly like a hot chocolate, except for the, well, tiny little ice chips inside and the huge mountain of chocolate powder and whipped cream. For those of you who do not like milk shakes, I wouldn't suggest this drink. However, for those of you who are okay with a slightly watered down version, try it out! My friends and I unanimously agreed that it was a terrific dish, and worthy of its fame. Even my friend who didn't like chocolate said it was perfect! Even though it sounds weird (ice in hot chocolate?), it tastes way better than you could imagine. Please, if you ever go to Serendipity 3, go try it out!

Service in NYC
Right upon our arrival, despite how busy it was in the store, a waiter immediately walked up to us, welcomed us, and asked how big of a table we needed with a huge smile on his face. And somehow, with all of the chaos and number of customers there were, we were seated easily and immediately with menus and chairs pulled out for us. As we were looking over the menu, a waiter came to ask if we were ready. We could tell he was a bit rushed, but he smiled as well, and even when we said we needed more time, he simply nodded and told us to take all the time we needed. All of the employees were pleasant, patient, and kind. It was like one of those imaginary cafes you see on television or in animes. The waiters and waitresses were all dressed either in simple, all black ensembles or in rather casual, but neat outfits, very put together. The whole visit was smooth sailing, and we weren't neglected at all! They all really knew how to manage their time and divide their attention well. Giving them five out of five!

Washington D.C.

First, I actually came to this one to have dinner! And since I was in a rush yet again, had no time for a proper dessert from Serendipity 3, so settled with a yummy milkshake! This one was the Oreo Express Milk Shake and tasted great! The presentation isn't quite as it was at the one in NYC, but the taste made up for it. The whipped cream was a bit of a hassle taking out, but really, no big deal. The milk shake was very thick in consistency (a plus on my part), and wasn't too sweet!

I then ordered the Crab Cake Salad for my meal. The crab wasn't necessarily fresh, but wasn't bad either, just in between. I'd have to say that this wasn't the best dish I've tried, but it was fairly decent. Can't say much about a salad, but I'd give it maybe a three out of five!

Now, for the aesthetic appeal of the restaurant, I'd have to say it had a long way before catching up to the one in NYC. It was definitely bigger in this location, but looked a bit like an old diner. It also wasn't as busy, and I'll get to the possible reason later. The decor was lacking a bit, as there weren't an whimsical decorations or interesting designs. It was a bit plain compared to the one in NYC.

Service in D.C.
Oh, the service. Let me tell you something: this is probably why people don't seem to be visiting this location. First off, it was such a hassle to tell them just how many people were in my group. We walked in with two other groups, and the waiter kept on diverting his attention from one group to the other, unnecessarily confusing himself. He then took a party that came in way later than my group did, and seated my group last (and we were shoved into a booth in the back of the restaurant near the kitchen). And like I said before, there weren't that many people there. However, the waiter made it seem as if he were in a rush and couldn't handle simply taking the time to grab some menus and lead us to our table. It took thirty minutes for another waiter to come and take our order, despite the fact that there were barely five other groups in the restaurant. Then, another twenty to thirty minutes passed before we even got our food. Perhaps it was just because I was in a rush, but I was way too impatient at the moment. Our food arrived, and we then realized that two orders were wrong. The waiter compensated with fries, but didn't bother to change the incorrect orders. Now I'll be skipping to the very end of the meal, when we asked for split checks. He looked at us for a good thirty seconds before saying that it would take way too long to print out separate checks. We all were a bit fed up but agreed to just use one check and use different forms of payment by writing who was paying for what on the back of the check (as he instructed us). We did so and afterwards, he said we did it wrong and then just said he would print out separate checks for us (which took a measly minute). Let's just say he received barely any tips that night. Won't bother with a rating.

Well, that was basically my experience with the two locations! My conclusion: go to the one in NYC, skip the one in D.C. If you do that, you won't regret your visit :)!

And that concludes my first post in two weeks! Hope you guys enjoyed my review of the two locations and visit Serendipity 3 (at least to get their Frrrozen Hot Chocolate)! Bring a couple of friends, or you'll be stuffed to the brim with no room to even sip water! Thanks so much for reading my post, and I'll see you guys very soon with another post~

Krispy's Food Posts c:

Hey guys! :D Guess what?
I went for sushi. Again.
Obviously I have sushi alot.
But what's not to like?

So this friday I went with my cousin and sister to try a sushi place down in Pasadena. (She had a groupon.)
-It is Korean-owned, so they can speak both English and Korean.

(Pictured: restaurant on friday night.)

The decor is really comfortable and open.
It wasn't busy when I went, but I have read that it is especially busy on weekend nights and some weekday lunches.

Complimentary: miso soup.
You can have a free cup of miso soup.
(1 per. person.)
The soup was... justifiably free.
To put it nicely.
But remember: don't just take something for the sole reason that it's free.
Pictured: miso soup.

Now on to the real food!

My sister does not eat raw fish, so she ordered a bowl of seafood udon.
The udon was delicious.
For those not a fan of sushi or fish, this udon is the thing for you! c:
I tried it for myself and it was a really comfortable, warm and non-overpowering food.
Reccomended for anyone who likes noodles and a simple dinner.

On to the sushi/rolls/fish!

We ordered a spicy tuna salad, which had alfalfa sprouts and fish eggs on top, with a big clump of raw spicy tuna on top. The dressing was ponzu sauce. (Ponzu is a japanese type of soy sauce that is very tangy and in my opinion; very delicious in salad.)

A big con for me was the texture of the tuna. It was a bit too crumbly, and I think having the tuna cut into more diced pieces would have made the dish lighter and have a better texture. Also, the tuna-lettuce was a bit off.

Well I'm a huge advocate for raw tuna. I have a thing for it.

So I ordered two plates, which is 4 pieces (2 pieces per order).
One order is $3.29, which is almost 6 dollars less than an order of sashimi.
So, I recommend getting the sushi rather than sashimi; there is not much difference, only the addition of rice.

My sister, again, does not eat raw fish, so california rolls are one of her favorite! I myself am not a fan, but I know many people are c:
My sister and cousin told me that the roll was very thick cut and that it frankly wasn't very good.
Honestly, if you're looking for japanese food, I wouldn't judge it off the california rolls.

The tuna was very delicious and not too fishy. :)

Last thing we ordered was the Geisha Roll.

Description: The Geisha Roll was a big roll with two pieces of tuna, one piece of salmon, cucumber, and alfalfa sprouts.
The sauce around it was mayo/ponzu combination and the red dots are sriracha sauce.

I really liked this roll.
It was good for a tuna lover like me, and it was quite filling. (The pieces are wider than the standard roll.)

The only cons were that they fall apart easily, and that they were sitting a pool of mayonnaise. But who knows? Some people may like that. It's only my opinion.

So, as you can tell, it was a small amount ordered, but it was a very filling meal.
All together, (along with a groupon for $20 off) it was $22.25. So not cheap, but not very expensive. Worth the money, to put it simply! ^^

I liked the calm atmosphere and the friendly service. The waitress was very nice and attentive, which is aleays great to me.
Food came pretty fast, 15 minute wait tops.
Overall: 8/10 ! :) I recommend it!

I hope if you're ever in the area, you can try Yes Sushi and tell me what you think! :)

Thanks for reading guys, and I promise: no food post next week! ^^*

Bottega Louie

Hello! The other day, I went to this restaurant/patisserie for dinner with my family and it was called Bottega Louie. It was my second time dining there, but I hadn't been there in so long that it felt like it was my first visit! It has a candle light dinner type of feel, but leans toward the casual side. There's a bit of a wait before you can get a table (no reservations), so it's basically a time where you can chat with whoever you go with for a while, or crack open a book to read as you wait.

Being an Italian based restaurant, the menu consists of, obviously, Italian food! There are salads, pizzas, pastas, soup, steak, and multiple other sides and dishes.

Here's what I ordered:

Because I don't have a very big appetite, I skipped the salads and soups and went straight to the main course. I'm fairly sure this dish above was called the trenne pasta (but don't quote me on that!). Basically, it's a pasta that's cooked until it's nice and crispy, and while people think it's overcooked, it really isn't. There's some spinach and short ribs hidden within the dish, and a very light tomato sauce coating it. I wouldn't exactly recommend this dish, mostly because the pasta texture didn't appeal to me, but that's just my own personal opinion. Who knows? Maybe you'll enjoy it ^^!

This lovely dessert above is the chocolate soufflé! It takes about 20 minutes to make, so the waiter recommended ordering it at the same time as we ordered our entrees. As you can see, the milky syrup was poured onto the soufflé to add a slightly sweeter taste, but I would skip that part if the chocolate is sweet enough for you. This wasn't the best soufflé I'd ever had (perhaps I'm just too picky), but it was definitely worth a try.

And of course, because Bottega Louie has an amazing selection of desserts, I just had to buy a few to take home.

The packaging they use is absolutely adorable! Above is a small box they use for cakes (and depending on the sizes, the boxes have different colors).

Here is the princess cake. The outside is, of course, chocolate (did I ever mention how much I'm in love with chocolate?) with little chocolate flower decorations. The red is icing just to add a bit more decor. Inside is chocolate mousse and at the very bottom is.... a macaron cookie :o! I'd never had anything like this before and was surprised at the unique touch they added. The chewy texture of the macaron went perfectly with the soft and smooth mousse. It's a little bit too sweet, so I wouldn't have too much at a time, but I loved every bite of it!

Last but certainly not least, we have a box of thirteen macarons! Bottega Louie has a selection of twelve different types of macaron flavors. Unfortunately, they were sold out of a flavor, so I only managed to get eleven, but I got an extra of the earl grey and vanilla macaron to fill up the box. Along with those flavors, they have raspberry, strawberry, rose, chocolate orange, lemon (I believe), espresso, lavender,  pistachio, and... well, there's definitely one that I can't remember >< but, they're all amazing! The cookie part is nice and chewy, and the cream on the inside is just as delicious. What's also unique is that the earl grey macaron has edible glitter on it~

And that pretty much sums up my second visit to this wonderful restaurant and patisserie! If you're into sweets more than you're into the actual meal itself, I would give this place a visit.
Here's the address: 700 S Grand Ave, Lost Angeles, CA 90017

Thanks so much for reading my post, and I hope to see you guys again next time :)!

Krispy's BIRTHDAY Food Posts!

Hey Everyone! \ ( • w • ) /

It's Krispy c:
Guess what~?
It's my birthday soon! :D
I went out for an early birthday dinner with Cherry c:

We went to the chain Benihana, a Japanese restaurant that is mostly circled around Tepenyaki-style dining.

*Cherry and I are actually not fans of greasy/buttery foods, so we each ordered a Sashimi Plate. (We both love sashimi btw.)

The starter was a mushroom/chives soup, and honestly it was really salty and tasted like soy sauce mixed with water.
There was also a salad, that had a good amount of greens and tomatoes. That was good, but I always say that starters can take away the real taste of the main dish.

So the sashimi plate had 5 different types of fish with 3 slices each. The fish was not of GREAT quality that day, but it was alright and wasn't too fishy.
Cherry enjoyed it X)

The presentation was really pretty, and there was a good amount of wasabi and ginger.
You can see the fish has a nice color, but it didn't taste as good as it looked.
I would reccommend getting a smaller plate of sashimi/sushi if you wish to get raw fish dishes, but it is pretty pricey (1pc -- $3.20+).

The others enjoyed a nice tepenyaki dinner, where a chef stood in front of us and cooked different meats, rice, and veggies.
They ordered a fried rice, filet mignon, and lobster/shrimp combo.
They really enjoyed it, but it is really buttery food, so I wouldn't reccomend it for a light meal.

Onions

Lobster and Shrimp

As you can see, the grill is right in our table! :D Cool, right?

For dessert, they gave me a free ice cream! (Left is mine, right is Cherry's.)

Green tea flavored.

Rate this meal: 7/10 *^^*

Thank You guys for reading! c:
(Sorry I missed last week ; - ;)

P.S. I'll post my second b-day dinner later this week! And how about a new vanity tour? c;

Cafe Maji

Hi loves!
A couple weeks ago, I went to a Korean café that my friend recommended for me: Cafe Maji! It was my first time going there, so I was definitely confused when I arrived at a gym. Yes, a gym. But, because Yelp is so helpful, I found out that you have to go inside the gym, sign in on a clipboard pinned up against the wall, and walk up a flight of stairs. Once you're up the stairs, you'll see a huge room that's basically separated into three compartments: two dance studios and the café (this part was about the size of two and a half dance studios).
There were three parts to the café: one was the kitchen where they made the food, another was behind  a large "L" shaped bookshelf where there were several small tables set up, and the third was a more open sitting area with bigger tables for bigger parties of people (from what I could tell, the biggest was probably for six to eight people).

Now for the food!
The menu was absolutely adorable as you can see below.
I... definitely do not understand what's written on the cover, but if you guys can let me know, please comment below!
Once you open the menu, there are a couple of pages with cute pictures and quotes (take the time to read them, as they really add to the charm of the little café).
After the pictures and quotes, you'll finally see pictures of the food and drinks they offer.

Above, you'll see just a few of the drinks they have. They have a great varieties of flavors for lattes, and even have non-coffee (a.k.a. non-caffeinated) lattes! If you flip the page, you'll also see a series of cold/chilled drinks for warmer weather or if you just prefer colder drinks to hot.

After the drinks come the food! Now, like many other cafés, Cafe Maji offers a series of sandwiches. But what's unique is that they also offer quesadillas; not just any quesadillas either! They have bulgogi quesadillas! If you don't know what bulgogi is, it's basically a type of korean beef that's soft and easy to chew.

And, after the main course, there's of course desserts! The signature desserts of Cafe Maji are basically waffles with whipped cream, different types of fruit, and syrup. There are different options on the menu for different combinations of fruit on the waffles.

Here is what I ordered below~

This is the taro, non-coffee latte. All of their drinks come with a delicious cream puff on the side. It's kind of like a sweet appetizer. As you can see, the latte art is just as adorable as it is in the menu. You may not get to choose what type of art you get, but it's so cute I don't think you'll mind ><!
There's a creamy, fluffy layer of cream before you actually get to the flavored drink. This part may not appeal to many people. However, I have to say that this drink is really great after the cream layer. Usually, the taro flavor in a lot of drinks is either overwhelmingly sweet or way too starchy. But this latte was a great balance. I would definitely recommend it if you guys are into taro.

Next came the bulgogi quesadillas. So, one down side is that it takes half an hour before they serve you your order. I'm not quite sure why it takes so long (as there weren't that many guests when I was there), so if you're a bit impatient, I would suggest maybe bringing homework or a book to read to occupy your mind for a bit. But the food definitely made up for the time waited. The bulgogi was very soft and easy to chew and actually tasted really good with the classic quesadilla cheese. I have to say that there was definitely a little too much cheese for me, so I could barely finish two (I was more than glad that my mom decided to share with me). If you have a small appetite, bring someone to share with you :)

Now for the finale of the meal! I ordered a waffle with strawberries and blueberries (I'm allergic to bananas, but if you're not, I suggest trying it out :) it looked really yummy in the menu!). The waffle looks kind of small, but trust me, after the quesadilla, you'll barely be able to finish it (and again, I shared)!
The fruit was very sweet, though obviously sour once you had a taste of the syrup and the waffle. The cream was a bit excessive, but you can always scrape it off to the side. The waffle, to my expectations, became a bit soggy after a while because the plate is hot and the cream melts. All in all, I was a bit disappointed with the waffle, but the rest of the meal was absolutely great!

If I'm in the mood for a twist on café food, I'll make sure to stop by again! I wouldn't recommend visiting too often as you might get tired of always having the same type of food, but definitely check it out, and if you like it, come maybe once or twice a month for a treat!

Here's the address for you guys:
56 E Duarte Road, 2nd Floor, Arcadia, California 91006

Thanks for reading my first food post! Talk to you guys next time :)

Krispy's Food Posts!

Hey everyone! c:
So recently I went to a restaurant called Chosun Galbi, a place in Korea Town LA that focuses on (as you can guess) galbi! :D
I've gone there before; it's a great place to go with bigger parties (4+), and there's a great enviroment. It's a pretty spacious restaurant and all the waiters and waitresses are very polite.
They have valet parking!
The valet are quick and efficient in getting you in and out the restaurant. Inexpensive, and saves you the time looking for a parking space!

So let's get on with the food.
I'm not much of a meat-eater myself.
I prefer noodle and veggie dishes when it comes to barbecue (I'm not vegetarian).
First things first: the menu!

So the menu is written in Korean mostly, but there is an English description next to the korean, and it's pretty easy to get by just pointing at the words when ordering.
Menus are clean. You would think I wouldn't have to say that but trust me, I have seen some nasty stuff in menus.

Next: the grill!

The grills are always clean.
Don't worry about the hygiene because as usual, they will switch the grills between every 2-3 meat dishes, depending on what it is.

The next thing that arrived was the banchan (side dishes) and starter salads.

The banchan is good, man.
They have fish cake, pickled radish, the obvious kimchi, and just things from all over the rainbow.

These things all come out before meals and are usually complimentary.

So along with the banchan, a salad is also handed out to each person. The salad has a very small amount of dressing, which I believe is ponzu sauce, a type of Japanese soy sauce that is a bit tart. I think the salad is delicious, but theres is too little dressing to the point where all you taste is the spring onion mixed in with the lettuce.

Now on to my personal favorites: the noodle and soups!

So the first thing that was ordered was a Spicy Ox Bone Soup, which contains different veggies and some glass noodles (chapchae).

The soup comes in a large stone pot and is usually handed out in bowls by the waiter.
I would say it is pretty spicy, but we also ordered the Non-spicy Ox Bone Soup, and it is just as delicious so don't be afraid if you can't handle the spice! You aren't left out! :)

Next is Naengmyeon (cold noodles).

Hey, so you're probably wondering, who eats naengmyeon in the winter time? So weird.

But for me, having naengmyeon while eating bbq is bliss.

The meat is salty and hot, and the naengmyeon is a great cooler after the initial devouring of the meat.

Now to the main attraction: the meat!

This is beef. So this is a dish of raw beef that is traditionally eaten raw along with strips of radish. It is served cold, almost frozen, and is easy to eat. It is not chewy or bloody.

I was not used to eating raw meat straight-up, but after trying this dish several years ago, I'm not so scared to try! XD

Now for the real stuff.
Pictured is short-rib, and is served with the onion slices and mushrooms.
Delicious.
It takes no more than ten minutes to cook thoroughly, and is delicious when dipped in sauce.

We ordered other types of meats as well, and I personally liked the bulgogi, which is good for kids and is delicious with rice.

Beverages!
My family ordered a beer and shared it, and it was not too strong and our table of 9 cleaned off two bottles without one person getting tipsy whatsoever.
Soju is usually the drink you would have with bbq.

I love this restaurant, but it is a high in fat meal so I wouldn't reccomend more than 2 times a month. (But you know, I probably won't follow my own advice.)

Thanks for reading my food posts! ^^*
Have a great weekend/week, everyone!
And if you ever visit Korea Town in Downtown LA, be sure to go to this restaurant for a good time! c:

Talk to you all later!

Yep. Another hot pot restaurant!

Located just a few minutes away from Boiling Point is Jazz Cat, Krispy and my favorite restaurant.
I have to start out this blog post by saying that they have great customer service. The people are nice and the environment is good.

The food is delicious.

I recommend the spicy miso hot pot. It's not too spicy (like Boiling Point's Taiwanese Spicy >.<), so I still recommend trying it even if you can't take too much spice. The picture above shows the spicy house special, which is a seafood base. Krispy usually gets Korean Kimchi.

If you like meat and not vegetables, I recommend getting the T-rex, in which they give you more meat and less vegetables. And if you don't like rice, get the extra cellophane noodles for a few extra cents. I also recommend getting the squid ball appetizer :3.

If you use Yelp and live in the LA area, I'm sure you've heard of Marugame Monzo. Or not. Either way, it's a restaurant to talk about. Located in Little Tokyo, I believe they are the most famous udon restaurant in the area.
I would recommend this place to Japanese food fans. As long as you go early (and know where to park, 'cause street parking costs $8), there shouldn't be much of a wait, for lunch at least. The downside is that they rush you, but that's understandable since it is a small restaurant. They wouldn't sit us because we only had 2 out of 3 people, but like I said before, it was understandable.
Gosh this is sounding like a Yelp review. Oops.

I forgot to take pictures of my food so this was my mom's uni udon and my dad's beef bowl. We ordered three dishes (including my tempura udon) and we were pretty filled up.
The seafood soup base (which is their universal soup) was mediocre in my opinion, but the texture of the udon was nice.
Perhaps it's because I like simple foods, but the beef bowl was my favorite dish on our table :3. But you can't share so shhh.
